INVISIBILIA

Invisibilia is perhaps my favorite podcast of all time, but if you asked me to succinctly summarize what it’s about, I struggle and I think that is actually a good thing given the nature of its content.

Invisibilia is described by its hosts like this:

Unseeable forces control human behavior and shape our ideas, beliefs, and assumptions. Invisibilia—Latin for invisible things—fuses narrative storytelling with science that will make you see your own life differently.

Invisibilia questions our everyday experiences and beliefs. It dives deep into otherwise mundane and regular occurrences and leaves you with a sense of wonder and curiosity when you realize that everything can be seen or challenged from so many different perspectives.

I can’t recommend it highly enough.

THE HAPPINESS LAB

Everyone wants to be happy, but what does that really mean? Is it even possible? Do we actually even know what will make us happy?

The Happiness Lab podcast is hosted by a Yale Professor that takes a scientific approach to happiness and discusses how our idea of what will make us happy can be way off and ways that we can be genuinely happy.

The Happiness Lab is described by its host as:

You might think more money, a better job, or Instagram-worthy vacations would make you happy. You’re dead wrong. In “The Happiness Lab” podcast, Yale professor Dr Laurie Santos will take you through the latest scientific research and share some surprising and inspiring stories that will forever alter the way you think about happiness. She’s changed the lives of thousands of people through her class “Psychology and the Good Life,” and she’ll change yours, too. Are you ready to feel better?

Alex describes herself as your “business bestie” and that’s honestly the best way to describe her and how I feel about her podcast.

On Purpose is the perfect show to listen to when you want to get your head in the game, and get some serious motivation when you may not be feeling it. The show gives you the advice, tools and tactics to go after your goals with guests who know their stuff.

I like to listen to On Purpose on the morning as I get ready for my day because it puts me in a mindset of getting things done, and being my very best business self.

Also, she’s from Trinidad and Tobago (my home country) and that makes it even cooler 🙂

On Purpose is described like this by its host:

Get back on course. This self-inspiring podcast serves as your guide through the challenges of entrepreneurship and gets you back to where you belong: On Purpose.

Recess is like being at a lime (Trini word for a get together) with guests that you just want to listen to for hours and hours. Interesting stories, amazing journeys, major inspiration — and all for and by Caribbean creatives.

I’m so incredibly happy that this podcast exists because it gives a space for Caribbean creatives to have conversations that need to be heard, and it presents a major source of insight, inspiration and just great information from the people leading the way.

Recess is described like this by its host:

Ting-a-ling-a-ling, School Bell ring! Join us on the playground as we sit down to discuss the Caribbean perspective of the creative experience. From music to fashion to food and everything else in between. Two tropical misfits, Kamron & D’Andre take you on a wonderfully creative journey.

EMBEDDED

It’s incredibly easy to feel disconnected and unaffected by what’s happening in the news. It’s oftentimes difficult to connect with a topic or event unless you have some sort of personal stake in it.

Embedded bridges this gap.

It tells stories that humanize the headlines and take you on a journey that makes it all feel very real and gives you a real sense of connection with the story.

Embedded is described like this by its host:

Host Kelly McEvers takes a story from the news and goes deep. Whether that means digging into the Trump administration’s past, the stories behind police shootings caught on video, or visiting a town ravaged by the opioid epidemic, Embedded takes you where the news is happening.
