10 Trends You Are Going To See Everywhere in 2020 (& where to buy them!)

2019 Fashion weeks have long come and gone but if you’re anything like me, you’re still on the the hunt for pieces to replicate some of the most iconic looks seen on the runways.  Personally, I’m always looking to innovate my closet and try new styles so the Fashion Weeks tend to leave me in awe, dreaming of outfit concoctions for the next season.

The things is that the runways shows also leave me a little confused and trying to figure out where I can find these fashion forward styles at reasonable prices.

So, to get my creative juices flowing and thinking about about my future dreamy outfit combinations, I decided to curate a list of the trends I’m expecting to see all over my Instagram feed in 2020 and a couple options of where you can buy them at a price that won’t break the bank.

Take a look and then tell me: which of these trends are you planning to wear the heck out of, and which are you planning to skip?

Holographic Must-Haves

If you dig the a futuristic look, you’re going to love the holographic trend going on this SS20. Play with vinyl and leather, as well as metallic shades for a Space Age inspired touch to your outfit. You can incorporate the holographic trend in small touches through your accessories or as one element in your outfit, which will be the talking point.

I personally love this holographic AND pleated skirt I got from Style Affair by Yvee, which crushes two SS20 trends in one go.

Beige Beauty

For a few seasons now, beige has been one of the it shades – and it’s back for another season! Whether it was on or off the catwalk, head-to-toe beige is an edgy and androgynous look that I can’t wait to try over the next few months. Depending on if I’m traveling or at home, I’d go with more biscuit and brown-ish tones in colder weather, or  more pastel-like shades if I’m back at home in the Caribbean.

Right now I’m eyeing this laid-back beige midi dress which I think would be super cute to layer over knits in chillier weather or wear on its own with a trendy pair of Birkenstocks in warmer weather.

The Pinstripe Vest

Masculine tailoring has been a style favorite of mine for a while now and if you don’t believe me, check out this photo of me wearing a pinstripe vest circa 2008 (LOL).

Seriously though… while I haven’t indulged in getting dapper in a full suit and pulling out a vest anytime recently, I look forward to mixing up some feminine and masculine vibes as part of my personal style in 2020.

My pick if you’d like to add a best into your 2020 closet would be this pinstripe vest. You can pair it with some tailored, black shorts and knee high boots to recreate the runway look above.

Vibrant Shades

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m a sucker for bright colors so I’m really excited about this SS20 trend.

I know I made a big deal about beige earlier, but it’s worth mentioning that bold shades are at the forefront of the trends of Spring/Summer 20! Everyone from Valentino to Alice McCall (pictured) opted for bold shades to turn heads, and pink in particular was the star of the show. This outfit from Alice McCall is feminine, yet edgy with a hint of flesh and transparent details, giving off a playful effect on what could have been a stereotypically girly look.

A hot pink dress will steal the show in the office or for an evening out with the girls, and you can finish the look off with silver accessories!

Khaki Craze

Another season, another time that khaki is trendy – and I am so grateful because I feel like I’ve never had the confidence to try this trend myself!

Khaki flatters all skin tones and can be worn all through the year, making it a timeless classic that you can wear season after season. I love the tailoring in the Tibi Resort 2020 collection, particularly this little khaki number that can be worn together for a preppy kind of look, or the blazer separately with a pair of Mom jeans and a plain white tee!

This look can be worn now with an oversized wool coat for extra style credentials or a simple black bodysuit for those of us in warmer climates!

Fabulous Fringing

I love a little bit of fringing: it gives off a western vibe to outfits and brings out my inner Dolly Parton – but in a cool way! I love how it is mixed with tailoring, and I would love to try out the trend with this gorgeous fringed pleather jacket, with a pair of cigarette pants for a smart-casual inspired look! This is a catwalk trend that can be definitely be imitated on the streets!

Crochet For Days

Growing up the Caribbean, crochet is everywhere — whether it’s the runner on granny’s dining table, or one of the vests or bathingsuits made in rasta colors.

For everywhere else in the world, I have a feeling the word “crochet” may make you squirm in horror but it doesn’t have to be a daunting concept. I do have to admit that while head-to-toe crochet seems to be dominating the catwalks, I would be prefer an easier and more street style-friendlier way of incorporating it into my closet!

A few options are to layer up with a cute crochet top or dare to bare with a crochet high neck sweater for a sexier finish.

Bold With A Bow

Valentine’s Day vybz anyone?

To make your look bold but feminine, an outfit embellished with a fabulous bow will do the trick! I love how extravagant and girly a bow can make the most neutral of outfits. This sun dress with bow detailing and flutter is the ultimate girly look for warmer temperatures. *ADDS TO CART*

Sheer Dresses

This SS20 trend gives me major beach cover up vybz having grown up wearing sheet shirts (which we call wraps) to the beach every weekend.

This trends gives the opportunity to be playful with transparent layers and play with sheer dresses and shirts for a sexy finish. Though I have to admind that I’m not quite ready for the underwear-flashing garments of Gucci (outside of beachwear), I still love this trend and want to make it more off the runway appropriate. A sheer white shirt layered over a pretty bralet will make the perfect night time chic outfit – ideal for events or just for a dressy evening out for drinks!

Plenty Of Pleats

A trend I will never grow tired of is anything pleated! Whether it’s a mid-length skirt for a sixties inspired look or a metallic midi skirt to feminize a rockier outfit, I can’t stop falling for the trend!
